HMB School

The Deutsche Schule Hermannsburg now Hermannsburg school, was founded in 1856 by the missionaries, becoming the very first co educational, boarding School, in the country. One room in the museum tells the fascinating story of the Hermannsburg school. It has recently undergone significant changes. It is an inspiring story of Perseverance indeed.

Although English is the language of tuition, the German Department is strongly committed to the German tradition and feel responsible to preserve and honour this heritage. This does not only relate to the German language, but also to the German traditions and customs, which they celebrate and keep alive.
